Some of you may be wondering what SCORE, Carol Alt, raw foods and Lisa Montgomery have in common.... especially when up until May of this year I never even had heard of SCORE  until a friend of mine suggested I contact my local SCORE.

I heeded my friend's advice, went online, read about SCORE, found my local office in Pottstown, called, and set up my first appointment, on May 16th , 2007- ironically, with Mr. Henry Pollock. 

 

You may be wondering why I said ":ironically" about Mr. Pollock.  You see, I am a packaging sales rep. by day for All-Size Corrugated and Mr. Pollock when he owned American Machine & Tool was one of my day- job customers.  I felt that Mr. Pollock being my first face to face contact was not coincidence but truly fate.  I knew I would be in good hands.

I came to SCORE because I was seeking guidance and creative means to purchase a property to some day open a healing center.  Because of the healing affects changing my diet has had on my life, I want to share my passion and knowledge with others.  You see once you  heal your body physically, you can then work on the emotional and then  get to the spiritual.  So you can be balanced emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I shared with Henry about my monthly raw potlucks and how I have had world-renown speakers. 

I also shared about my biggest event to date where Carol Alt, Super Model and actress used some of the recipes of some of my potluckers as well as one of my own in her new book "The Raw 50".  I asked that Carol Alt come and speak at one of my raw potlucks.   The timing worked out that it was when I hold a raw family picnic at Victory Park in July.  The timing was perfect. Now let me take a side step.  Henry said after hearing my story..Lisa with your knowledge and personality you should have a raw cooking show like Rachael Ray with raw demos and interviews and that I should contact one of your SCORE members..a Mr. Dick Powell, who is a retired tv producer. I called Dick on the phone, introduced myself, told him I had met with Henry and said Henry thinks I should have this show ...what do you think? 

I also shared with Dick about coming to SCORE, regarding the center, told him about the potlucks and the Carol Alt event.  Dick did his homework...checked out my website, read about me, met me and came on board to handle the publicity and marketing of the Carol Alt event.  As a result we contacted atleast ll newspapers, 4 tv stations, and 4 radio stations.  As you can see by the media coverage, we hit everyone.  I could not have had such a media blitz without Dick Powell and SCORE. Remember I was, I am still working a full-time job in addition to the raw potlucks and planning of the Carol Alt event. As a result of the media coverage, I was invited to speak almost immediately at the local rotary in August. The Philadelphia EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) contacted me, and I will be speaking  and providing a raw demo to their officials on Nov 8 on my lunch hour ...Yes in between my day- job customer appointments.  Also I was just contacted this past thursday by Channel 6 TV, and they will be coming to my next raw potluck on October 13th to interview me, do a segment on my raw potlucks as well as the success stories and the healing benefits of raw foods.  Channel 6 TV would not have known about me if it weren't for Dick Powell and SCORE and all the media contacts made during the Carol Alt event. A bit of tv trivia that we learned while contacting the tv stations during the Carol Alt event....is that we were informed that tv crews DO NOT come to anything on the weekends unless it is something of the magnitude of God, the President or the death of Princess Diana.  So for Channel 6 to call me and say we want to come to your home, interview you, tape your potluck and do it on a Saturday night in my mind is huge. In regards to the center,

I have a name, logo is being finalized and I already have my 501C3 non- profit status and now I am just seeking the right property, the right location and the right time. Since the Carol Alt event, besides resting up, doing the day job, Dick on behalf of SCORE has been guiding my footsteps so that my steps are made in sound wisdom.  I want to take this opportunity to thank Dick Powell and everyone at SCORE for all their help in the past as well as the future.
